29 Week Update

  • Week: 29 weeks
  • Size of Baby: a tad over 15 inches long and 2 1/2 pounds
  • Movement: I really do feel her all day...but she is still most active when I'm sitting still or lying down in bed.
  • Symptoms: leg cramps, exhaustion , clumsiness
  • Cravings: nothing new...same as always
  • Sleep: I wake up AT LEAST once each night. It is hard to get comfy with this large belly in the way. :) So I'm pretty exhausted in the afternoons.
  • What I'm Missing: wine (still)...especially this time of year
  • Moment of the Week: Derek and Daddy painting Clara's cradle and then putting it together. Spending time with my wonderful momma on Mother's Day.
    • Waiting for Clara

One thing I have figured out (real fast) is that I have to be very patient when it comes to this pregnancy. 9/10 months is a VERY long time, however, I must say it has gone by fast. I am afraid these last two months will be the longest though. I have been very busy making plans for Clara's nursery. The hard part is that we only have the dresser, rug and crib skirt. So...there's not much I can do right now as far as decorating goes. The bumper should be ready very soon, and we are SUPPOSED to get the crib this week or next. The glider will probably be the very last piece since we only ordered that a month ago. I am hoping, once we have the bumper, we can figure out the paint color. THEN, once we have it all painted, we can start hanging things. Last weekend, Sara and Derek put together his birthday present...the B.O.B. Revolution. (His only request when it came to buying "baby things.") It really is an awesome jogging stroller. We both can't wait to try it out.

Right now, the nursery is full of wonderful gifts for Miss Clara from our shower last weekend. I have gone through all of the clothes, and am currently washing a load right now. Derek and I also reorganized Clara's closet and the guest bedroom closet. I guess you can say, I'm in major nesting mode!

Derek and my daddy also painted the precious cradle Clara will use. My Gramps built the cradle for my cousin Melanie, which was then passed down to me and my sister. It is in great condition and so very special. Once it's all put back together, and in our room, I will take a picture.

My favorite guys in the world
So that's where we are right now. We still have plenty of time...I'm just so very excited I can hardly stand it.

      28 Week Update

    • Week: 28 Weeks...YAY FOR THE THIRD TRIMESTER!!!!
    • Size of Baby: 14.8 inches long and 2 1/4 pounds
    • Movement: She is still the most active at night.
    • Symptoms: No new symptoms. The leg cramps are still pretty terrible.
    • Cravings: No new cravings. I still just love my peanut butter and jelly and fruit.
    • Sleep: I am absolutely exhausted. Like first trimester exhausted. I am sure the whole "waking up in the middle of the night due to leg cramps" doesn't help much.
    • What I'm Missing: Painting my toe nails with ease.
    • How I'm Feeling: Sleepy
    • Moment of the Week: We had our first baby shower this weekend! Derek's stepmother, Sara, as well as my Nantie, cousin, Kelsey, and grandmother, Sarah, came in town to celebrate Clara Elizabeth. Derek and I are truly truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

      Celebrating Baby Sciba

Last weekend, my mom, sister and I hosted a shower for one of our dearest family friends...Brittany Sciba. We have been friends since we were little little. Brittany is having her baby in May and decided not to find out the sex of her baby. We ALL cannot wait to find out what she is having! We had such fun planning the shower. We went with a shabby chic, pink and blue theme. Very "Brittany" :)
      "Blessed" banner
I used burlap, stencils, paint and doilies to make the banner.

Baby pictures of Brittany and Chris hanging on the tree and pink and ivory eggs in apothocary jars to decorate one of the tables.

Blue hydrangae, tiny pink roses and baby's breath for the arrangements. Please take note of Girlfriend under the table. We put strawberries and pineapple in the water...it was delish!

      27 Week Update

    • Week: 27 Weeks
    • Size of Baby: 14 1/2 inches long and almost 2 pounds
    • Movement: Same as before. She's a wild bug late at night! It's Derek and I's favorite part of the day!
    • Symptoms: Leg and foot cramps! I'm starting to require naps again.
    • Cravings: Peanut butter and jelly, grapes and strawberries
    • Sleep: It's becomming more difficult to change sleep positions due to my growing belly!
    • What I'm Missing: Shopping for non-maternity clothes. I also miss wearing heels...it's just too much when I try to wear them at school.
    • How I'm Feeling: This is the last week before I begin my third trimester and I'm beginning to feel very sleepy again. The good news? Only a few weeks left of school. Then I can take all the naps I want!
    • Moment of the Week: I've begun to recognize when little bit has the hiccups. It's the cutest little thing! My mom went to my doctor's appointment with me today and got to hear Clara's heartbeat. Then we did a little bit of shopping. I am so blessed to have such an amazing momma!

      Maternity Threads

So one thing I miss the most these days...shopping at my favorite places for cute clothes. My mom and I went to the mall today and I was so sad there was only ONE store I could actually shop at. Maternity clothes are way comfy and all, but I still miss wearing my regular clothes. ESPECIALLY jeans! I've bought three pairs of maternity jeans, and not a pair has any stretch in them. The good news is...I really don't wear jeans in the summer. I will basically live in dresses. Oh and another bummer...I'm 5'10" and most maternity pants are not made for us tall gals.
Some of my fave places to shop (online) have been Nordstrom, Boden (they now carry a maternity line), Pea in the Pod, Pickles and Ice Cream. Boden only carries a few items...but they are the softest, most comfortable clothes. I have a couple pairs of pants from Gap...they have lengths.
Here are a few of my favorites!
      These two are from Nordstrom.
I ordered these in every color (white, black, khaki and green) from Pea in the Pod. They will be perfect for summer.

These are probably my favorite pants from Pickles and Ice Cream. They are plenty long for me and will be nice and cool for summer since they are linen.

Everything from Boden is so soft. Definitely the most comfortable clothes I have.

Only 3 more months of wearing maternity clothes!!!

      The Bump...26 Weeks

I cannot believe how big my belly is getting! I really notice such a change now that I've popped from week to week. I cannot imagine what I'll look like at 40 weeks! WOAH!
