Clara's Nursery

I have FINALLY finished the nursery. I was going for a vintage/antique rose look. I knew I wanted a wrought iron crib. I did not want things to be too "matchy matchy." I wanted it to have character and special meaning. Many of the pieces in the nursery are very special. It is officially my favorite room in the house. I cannot wait for our Clara to get here! The rug is from Layla Grace. It was the very first piece I bought for the nursery. My grandmother, Sarah, gave me the rose painting. The glider is from Baby's 1st Furniture and is so comfortable! My mom made the pillow. I just love sitting in the glider, imagining what it will be like when our little one is here.
We actually got the shelf at Target. The baskets are from Pottery Barn Kids. They are already full of baby Clara essentials (bows and headbands, burp rags, diapers, etc.) We are all set!
The gown on the left is Clara's take-home outfit. My mother smocked the dress in the middle (along with a matching bonnet). Mrs. Patrice smocked the gown on the right. All three are very very special. The hooks are from Pier 1.
Sarah, found this dresser for me. It could not be more perfect. It just has so much character, and I love how feminine it is! The gold mirror belonged to my great-grandmother.
I love, love, love owls. I found this adorable light switch cover at Anthropologie.
Sarah gave me the adorable lamp shade. The book, Clara's Story, was made with love by Aunt Alli. Alli gave me the book at my first shower. It is one of the most precious gifts I have ever recieved.
We will need to put a picture in the frame once we get some pictures of our little bit. My sister and I collected Madam Alexander dolls when we were little. This particular doll, Scarlett O'Hara, was my very very favorite! (Still is!)
My Nana and Mammaw's China. Even as a little girl, I remember thinking they were so beautiful in my Nana's China cabinet. I absolutely LOVE this piece of the nursery!
Ivory silk dupoin drapes. My mom made the sashes, (which match the bumper).
My Papa made this rocking horse for me when I was a baby. I knew I would use it if we had a little boy, but it fits just as well in our bee's nursery! So special!
Lee Lee and Pop Pop bought Clara her crib. I always knew I wanted a wrought iron crib...and I fell in love with this one from the beginning. Jerry Manto, one of the music teachers at my school, made the beautiful bumper. My sweet home room mom, Kala, just gave me the silk duponi crib skirt. It all came together perfectly! I could not be more pleased!

35 Week Update

  • Week: 35 Weeks
  • Size of Baby: over 18 inches long and around 5 1/4 pounds
  • Movement: It no longer feels like kicks and punches since she's running out of room. It's like little pushes and shoves, and of course hiccups. I wish I could see what she was doing in there.
  • Symptoms: I'm tired and completely uncomfortable. I feel very, VERY pregnant. My body just hurts. Only a few more weeks! (AND this is all totally worth it!)
  • Cravings: lemonade, fruit, anything cold
  • Sleep: So awkward! I still wake up on my back a lot. :/ It is very awkward/uncomfortable changing positions.
  • What I'm Missing: A good night's sleep!
  • Moment of the Week: We knew, since week 30, that Clara was breech. I had an appointment last Thursday, where the doctor confirmed that she was still breech. At first, I was a little wigged out about the idea of having a c-section...but that lasted about a minute. The most important thing is that we get our baby bee here safe and sound. We ended up scheduling the c-section for Wednesday, July 13 at 7:30am. It actually works out better than July 23rd, because my dad has to leave for London on the 17th. I am just BEYOND excited! I have one last thing to do in the nursery, and then I'm officially DONE...and will post pictures. Very very exciting week!

34 Week Update

  • Week: 34 weeks
  • Size of Baby: almost 18 inches long and weighs about 4 3/4 pounds
  • Movement: same as before...lots of hiccups!
  • Symptoms: still just absolutely exhausted...I don't think that will go away either.
  • Cravings: cold, fruity things. I really love the strawberry HEB popsicles.
  • Sleep: I rarely can sleep through the night without waking up once or twice thanks to those lovely leg cramps. I really do think this is just God's way of getting me ready for the real deal!
  • What I'm Missing: working out, wearing my regular clothes, sleeping on my tummy
  • Moment of the Week: ALMOST completing the nursery. I'm just waiting on one more thing to get done...then I will post pictures. Then, I've got to work on organizing everything!

Sneak Peek of Clara...3D Ultrasound

At 30 weeks, I had a 3D ultrasound done. The best part? My parents and sister came with us. It was absolutely AMAZING! The last time we saw Clara was at 20 weeks. To see all of her perfect little features, moving around/showing off, was the most precious thing I've ever seen. I just had no idea I could love someone as much as I love her...and I haven't even met her yet! This is one of my favorite pictures since you can really see her face. She looks so peaceful. My parents and sister thinks she looks like me in this one. It will be such fun to compare her pictures after birth to these. I'm also in love with this one because I think she looks just like Derek! She may just be the perfect little combo of us. The black "stuff" on her head is not hair. However, when the ultrasound tech switched over to the black and white US, he told us she does have hair. I figured she'd just have some fuzz on her head (like her daddy and I), but he said, "No, she has HAIR!" I would love if she came out with a headfull of hair like her Aunt Alli did! As I mentioned in a previous post, Clara is still breech. Her legs were up by her head and she'd just kick away. I love these chubby little legs already! She kept her hand up by her face the entire time. Most of the pictures have her hand in them. This one just makes me giggle.

33 Week Update

  • Week: 33 Weeks
  • Size of Baby: a little over 17 inches long and weighs a little over 4 pounds
  • Movement: I feel her kicks pretty low...since she is still breech. She is all over the place though. She gets the hiccups almost every day!
  • Symptoms: exhaustion!!!
  • Cravings: anything cold and fruity. lately, I'm loving lemonade from Chic-fil-a. YUM!
  • Sleep: I'm back to taking naps. thank goodness I'm done with school so I can take a one each day.
  • What I'm Missing: being able to move around with ease. :)
  • Moment of the Week: the glider came in! so I've been able to really work on the nursery. (pictures coming soon!) next project: reorganizing her closet!
